September Member's Meeting

" 4 x 15 "

Summer's over and we're ramping up for Fall, starting with another "4x15". Fifteen minute photography presentations from four ASMPCV members. Each member has 15 minutes to show and discuss their photography. The work can be commercial or personal, one photo or a picture story.

Chris CrumleyChris Crumley is a stock and advertising assignment photographer based in Virginia Beach. Internationally, he specializes in people and water-based photography. He holds various diving certifications and has logged over 7,000 dives; only seven without a camera. He's been a member of ASMP since the 1980s, active at the national level founding the ASMP-Underwater Specialty Group and, until this year, has been a long time volunteer Board Member of the Central Virginia Chapter. Mark Mitchell

While studying Art and Advertising illustration at The Art Institute of Boston, Mark MItchell discovered photography. Using a camera freed him from pen and brush drawings on a board in the studio, and started the authentic experience with the subject, which is the process of making photographs. Mark became a U.S. Navy photographer from '68 to '72 and began his freelance career upon discharge.

Over the years he has had the opportunity to photograph many different things. Somewhere along the way he remembered being advised to shoot "what interests you most", and what has always interested him most, since childhood, is people - their environments and what makes them unique.

His work reflects this interest - whether he is working with professional talent, celebrities, or regular folks in his pictures, he is always striving to create a personal connection which satisfies his need and creates an atmosphere that results in a successful photo shoot. His work can be seen at www.markmitchellphotography.com

Paul PupuraPaul Purpura is a freeelance news, sports and events photographer in Nelson County, VA. Most of his work appears in Nelson County Life. His work can be seen at www.paulpurpuraphotography.com
